Christopher G. Moore Updates: 8 August 2014

Dear Reader,

You may remember Jim Thompson, the American crime fiction author, who was a blogger on International Crime Authors Reality Check.

Jim died on 2nd August 2014 in Finland where hed lived the last fifteen years of his life. He was forty-nine years old.

This week Ive written a tribute to Jim and followed it with one of Jims essays.

Id exchanged a couple of dozen emails with Jim. I find a strangeness in coming to terms with the thought that someone like Jim, a brilliant writer, is suddenly gone. Weve all experienced that moment. Sadness, regret, and feeling of loss.

You can read my farewell to Jim Thompson here.

Hug someone close to you and let her or him know you care and that they are important. You never know when that is your last chance. It all goes very fast.

The overall effect is a powerful vision of one writer’s memory shaped by the forces of myth-making, illusions, history and imagination. More>>

Fingering the helper can be a risky business, and for Calvino this promises to be one of those times. More>>
